The development design process often involves ecological mitigation or compensation to help alleviate adverse impacts. Pure Ecology will provide practical advice and we have a well-deserved reputation for delivering successful mitigation schemes for habitats and protected species. Habitat creation does not only involve traditional methods, but we can advise on new approaches with green and brown roofs. Sustainable Urban Drainage(SuDs) is a useful way of encouraging biodiversity into development and green infrastructure networks can provide solutions for landscape scale impacts associated with infrastructure and large scale projects.
Where protected species are discovered on site, suitable mitigation to retain populations on site or off-site compensation will be required. Mitigation for European protected species such as bats, otter and great crested newts will need to beundertaken under licence.
Examples of our mitigation can be found on our case studies page and includes green infrastructure, bat house design and reptile translocation.
