Llangattock Boathouse and Marina

The project A new boathouse for Beacon Park Boats on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal with a small marina to moor 4-5 canal boats.

Our involvement Pure Ecology Ltd. undertook a Phase 1 habitat survey and preliminary ecological appraisal. The project required an impact assessment and mitigation for the loss of grassland. The project involved creative design and advice on habitat enhancements including new tree and shrub planting, grassland creation and features such as dead wood habitats and refugia for wildlife on the canal.

Work on the site started in August 2014 and in November 2015 Beacon Park Boats moved to the new, larger wharf at Llangattock. It was an exciting project for the expansion of a small, family run company. Pure Ecology provided an efficient service and cost effective mitigation strategy that met the biodiversity requirements of the planning application was proportionate to the client’s project budget.
